BLOG LOVING

I was asked by a colleague who knows that I'm an active blogger if it is possible for a person to fall in love just reading the works of others here in the blogosphere. I think she wants to use this as a means for her to find true love.

I immediately said yes. It is possible. I remember about a couple of years ago, I wrote about my imperfections and there was someone brave enough to ask me out on a date. It turns out the reader found me interesting. But I did not reply. I'm suplado.

Let's face it, this world is full of really talented writers, creative poets, romantics and uber cheesy bloggers. At one point or another, you'll find him or her attractive. Maybe not physically. But intellectually you find yourself fascinated and interested in the person behind the written works.

I think I'm being idealistic. I have honestly never heard of a love story that came out of blogging. I've known of relationships that started through blogging. I don't know if any of them were successful. I know mine wasn't. But that's another story.

But it is possible to be attracted with just the writer's words. If you ask me, I could name a few people in the blogosphere (not just on my bloglist here) that I'm attracted to intellectually. I like the way they write. I love their wordplays. I'm at awe with their wit and I'm spellbound by their stories. It's sort of a crush on a different level.

I've only met one online crush personally, and other than exchanging comments here and there, we have no other means of communicating with each other.

Realistically speaking, I don't dwell too much on these crushes. I know most of the time, people who write under pseudonyms don't necessarily reflect what they really are in person. Sometimes a blog is just a way for a writer to become what he or she wants to be. When in real life they're far from what they say they are on their works.

This medium is still young. Alot has yet to happen. If history taught us one important lesson is that nothing really is impossible. If I was single, I'd probably pursue my online crushes. Although, that's not the main purpose of my putting up this home of mine. But if finding the one here is what is fated, then that's just the icing on the cake.

The blog is a good way to assess the intelligence and maturity of a person. You will also get to know her world depending on how open she is in her blog.

That's why people get attracted to bloggers.

I say no to relationship na nabuo thru blogging....i dont want to restrict my point of view and writing dahil pag blogger rin ang bf/gf mo, aba..yun na nga yun.ahaha

kaya sa dalawang nagka crush sakin......salamat...i better off single than have a relationship na kapwa blogger..

ang kapal.ahahha

nakaka-inlababo naman talaga minsan kapag sobrang galing yung blogs na nababasa mo. kahit na di mo pa nakikita yung author personally.

anything is possible nowadays.. especially for love..

Naniniwala ako na posible... But dont confuse love between the stories and the writer... I can fall in love with the stories of great writers but to fall in love with the writer itself will be work in progress. Kung papipiliin ako between chatters and bloggers? Id rather choose a blogger...

LOL

many of the best writers the world has known have the worse personalities. I guess it could be the start, but it takes more than that. it's about knowing the person in person...unless, you want to marry his/her writing....peace

jayvie said...

perhaps love could blossom FROM/OUT OF blogging :D

gillboard said...

jayvie: perhaps. nothing's impossible.

anton: the point i guess is attraction in the writing. not necessarily marriage. but i suppose you're right.

gasul: dapat invited nako sa lakad niyo sa October. last time andito ka, di mo ko niyaya.. huhuhu

gillboard said...

jepoy: hidden talent yan. hehehe

glentot: wag na. may magseselos. hahaha!!!

dongho: true, even i haven't heard of a lovestory that blossomed out of blogging.

gillboard said...

gillboard said...

indecent: can't relate? hehehe

pmm012: amen.

gillboard said...

mugen: but...

everyone likes a little bit of honesty every now and then, I suppose. Good bloggers have a way of presenting their best literary foot forward...which makes for a very attractive front.

pero no, haven't ever had an online blogger crush. :-p

The bottom line is that people are social beings; thus, we always seek to build and enhance inter-personal relationships through new and innovative means (blogs, sns, etc). However, we have to remember that just as it is morally permissible to have relationships in
the online world; it is also morally supererogatory to build REAL-TIME relationships. This is because we only get to manifest ourselves through physical connections with other people. :)
