ENTRY 1: THE YEAR I LEARNED TO READ

It took me 22 days to write my first journal entry for the year... I don't want to put this on my was-not-able-to-do-this-year list... I might need a miracle, but i'll make sure that 2006 will see a hundred blog entries from your friendly neighborhood gillboard...

I've been on a book streak this month... Three books read since the year started... And they were really good too... One was from an author who I've avoided and detested ever since I learned to read fiction.

Week 1: Pattern Recognition by William Gibson
It's about a trend spotter who's job is to find out the origin of an online video that's having a cult following all over the cyberworld... It's like a spy story without the thrilling action and all the intrigue... it's a good book if you're into industrial espionage... Not really my cup of tea, but still did enjoy the story...

Week 2: Life Expectancy by Dean Koontz
The day that Jimmy was born, it was predicted that he will go through five horrendous days in his life... I am not a fan of Dean Koontz, nor am I familiar with his works, this is the first book he wrote that I read, and I was not disappointed... It's funny, there are times that I can't put the book down, even if I really needed to go to the toilet, there are also times that the story seems to go nowhere, but still in the end I got enchanted...

Week 3: The Broker by John Grisham
I don't know why I avoided reading books from this author... I am interested in all things law (although I've no plans of being a lawyer)... But I'm scared of reading his titles... Maybe it's because when i first read his book I was too young to understand the deep things that he was talking about... This was his first foray to spy stories, and to tell you the truth, he reintroduced me to insomnia... I finished half of his book in one sitting... I only slept two hours last Tuesday because of him...

Week 4: Absolute Friends by John Le Carre
Im halfway through this book so I cant really tell you too much about this book... I've been reading this for more than a month now... This week, Im planning on finishing this, before I move on to another title.
