I have been a fond reader of comics since I learned how to read. In fact, I may not be as fluid in the language if I haven't been reading those things as a kid. And the title that appealed to me the most during my childhood days is X-Men.
And if you're the type of person who lost interest in the this hobby once hair started growing in places of your body not everyone is seeing, then I'll update you on what's happening. As of today, mutants are an endangered species. Less than 200 hundred mutants populate the Marvel Universe, and for the last two years or so, no new mutant manifestation ever occurred... until today.
*** Spoilers Ahoy ***
This is the central theme of Messiah Complex. A mutant birth, and everyone who wants to claim power over the mutant population are all after the same kid. The reason: unknown. But the future of everyone hangs on the balance and whoever will get a hold of this baby will turn the tide of war and might have a good chance of getting the upperhand in holding the mutant's fate.
We're almost halfway to this weekly event that brings all X-men teams, and contrary to past events A LOT already happened.
A team of X-Men from different era's were assembled to find a new mutant in a small town in Alaska. Unfortunately, they're not the only ones who wants the child. Mr. Sinister and the mutant hating Purifiers are also looking for the child. Unbeknownst to all of them, another one is also looking for it... it's purpose... DINNER!!!
Cyclops knows they're one step behind everyone else and quickly asks for help from everyone he can get to find the child. THe X-men decides that to get to Sinister, they need to get a hold of everyone Sinister's dealt with... enter the Acolytes.
Enter Madrox (the Multiple Man) and Rictor. Being an investigator, Madrox must visit the two possible futures to find out what happened in the present when the baby was born and how it affects the future. And as for Rictor, since he's not a mutant anymore he has to infiltrate the Purifier's headquarters and find out if they have the child.
Meanwhile the new breed of X-men decide to take on the very same group who murdered their classmates... the Purifiers. Suffice it to say, being greenhorns that they are, things turn for the worse.
The X-Men attack their adversaries on all fronts and their efforts were for naught. Wolverine lost his healing powers, the New X-MEn possibly suffered another casualty and were teleported to different locations, the mansion gets attacked by the Sentinels.
Good thing the baby is in the hands of a good guy... Cable. But is that really a good thing?
